Thugfucker --

Former international aid worker teams up with Icelandic security specialist and former top model to create an international DJ supergroup. Certainly not what you'd expect from a group called Thugfucker - but then Greg Oreck and Holmar Filipsson often do tend to defy expectations.

One a New Yorker transplanted to Europe, the other an Icelander transplanted to New York. Both from a strong musical background with an almost obsessive dedication to the art of wild party instigation.

Growing up on an Icelandic commune full of some of the country's finest political thinkers, Holmar eschewed his past and all the heady philosophy of his childhood to move to New York and search out more physical and visceral methods of bringing happiness to the masses.

Meanwhile Greg was in the midst of a successful (if short-lived) political career in America when he too became disillusioned with the duplicity and self serving interest of those around him. Disturbed by the void he saw in most people's lives, it was in the dark depths of the New York underground club scene that he finally found his true calling.

Unbeknownst to each other, Holmar and Greg then propelled themselves along similar paths, throwing parties, honing their musical & studio skills and searching out inspiration from a wide variety of musical sources.

Then one late night, in a cloudy alcohol fueled discussion about the plight of the genetically Rhythm-Blind, Holmar and Greg recognized the depth of their shared passions. Thugfucker was born.

Thugfucker's latest single, "Disco Gnome" is currently out on Life and Death records and lots of little gnomes can be found in the boxes of DJs worldwide. Feel the gnome love. Uhhh

After steering the legendary Dollhouse Studios through the murky waters of East Vancouver's renegade music / dance / art scene for over 6 years, they have transitioned smoothly into the finest international burlesque that Canada has to offer. Their presence is undeniable; the uncompromising visionary Crystal Precious, the hyper-athletic and innovative Lindsay Cherry, the ethereal beauty and stately composure of Cara Milk, and the dark fetish fantasy of Tristan Risk will be in full force.

Vancouverite-via-Winnipeg Mark Penner has been a fixture in Canada's live funk scene for years as part of Winnipeg's greatest live dance outfit Moses Mayes. Now, he turns his ample production and performance skills to his solo project that's aimed squarely at the dancefloor. As Cyclist, Mark's releases on Homebreakin / Punchout have received international acclaim, and most recently, his remix with Pat Lok of The Rapture's "How Deep is Your Love" has been selected by the band itself as the winner of the DFA Records remix competition. Expect a fine mixture of deep disco, analog house and re-edit flavours.

East Van Digital keeps it fly with it`s next release, bringing aboard a talented team of producers to rework an original collaboration between Dee Bass, Joseph Martin & Spyte. `Applesauce` is a modern underground hip house jam, complete with a funky bassline, unique percussion and lyrics with attitude! Twisting up the track into an upbeat drum & bass floor filler is Dirtnapper, while Discosynthetique remixes the tune into an all-out funky electro breaks jam. Yan Zombie crunks this jam, turning in a jazzed-out rework featuring keys from The Psillionaire, and 22:22 cranks up the electro hop in his highly energized midtempo rocker!

This will be a laid back jam style format with 30 minutes sessions for each category. Skiers & riders can take as many runs as they can during that time, and judges are only scoring what is landed.

There will be an additional TKO round for Best Trick.

Plus there will be a live DJ, BBQ and green beer on the patio!
