The massively successful Foosh / Treehouse / Common empire has spawned many progeny over the years, but none so instantly classic as our man Dane. His all-vinyl disco, soul, and cosmic sets have won the hearts of Soundwavers, slow-ravers, and dancefloor slavers across western Canada, and probably many other places I'm not aware of. He's humble, self-effacing, really funny, and talented. He is also handsome. Check out their "Common Edit" series featuring Western Canada's most discerning editors tackling classic fare.

The mobile sauna was hot this Sunday at our 8th annual Thanksgiv'er party. Although we were stuffed our djs kept us burning calories on the dance floor. Thanks Steamboat Fatty, Blenda, Rideout and K-Tel for throwing down. Amazing to see so many friends. We love you Geri!

Friday April 15th we'll be dining late and dancing even later at La Casita on the corner of Abbot and Cardero in Gastown. The place is about the same size as The Bunker was so we're making this a private event in the hopes that the bunch of you that Jessie and me wanna see actually come but we left the 'select guests to invite' button so you can tell some friends too. By the way Jessie's gonna marry my old ass this summer. Happy birthday to me, eh?

As an added bonus this Friday is also the birthday of the super lovely and always supportive Diana Lux. It really is funny how mid-April has spawned so many Vancouver party promoters. It's almost enough to make you believe in astrology.

He has extensive engineering and production credits spanning many genres of music and has dj'ed clubs, parties and radio, all since the early 90s. Mostly known for playing funk, hip hop, 80s,disco and classic jams, The Stunt Man still prefers to play vinyl when the the situation permits. Notable dj gigs include Vancouver club residencies such as: Friday Night Fever, Go Dumb!, Monday Night Live, also out of town tours including Shambhala music festival, NASA and various international space conferences in the US and Japan, as well as playing with Canada's finest dj's in Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal and Halifax.

Steamboat Fattie's been playing out for well over a decade that i know of. from his days hosting dance parties at his glorified downtown-eastside photo studio flophouse (if you remember - you weren't there) to his years long residencies at Subeez and Falconetti's and on up highway 99 to co-produce Funkoree for some of the luckiest people in BC - he is hands down one of the finest dance floor deejays Vancouver's shaken it's booty to. Ever. Look forward to a very deep and groovy, all-vinyl set where ravers & rockers collide in a Funk Sandwich!

One never really knows what K-Tel's gonna do from one gig to the next. Will he be live syncing visuals with the music? Will he play all 45s or his own remixed versions of your favourite tracks? He'll just do what he feels is called for and he's never wrong. In my opinion it doesn't matter if your name is Funkoree, Basscoast, LIVE at Squamish, Soundwave, Tsunami of Tar or Shambalalalalala - If you don't book this guy your party sucks.
