Woodhead, enigmatic sexy-man and SaunaSessions.ca don, has been hard at work- this much is clear. His newest series of meaty disco arrangements does what many nu-disco releases of late have failed to do- capture the unique flavour of italo, black funk, and deep disco without over-modernizing the production values. These timeless reworkings incorporate source material and original composition, and combine with Woodhead's knack for dancefloor-ready arrangements to great effect.

Kingdom provides contorted instructions to wanna-be producers while a driving dub-house stomp propels the moog bassline and ecstatic vocal into prime-time territory. The Dub Mix here is an absolute must-have, stripping the track down to its essentials and making it a perfect late night stormer.

Tapping into the moodier side of Italo-influenced pop, Dancing On Ice is reminiscent of many classics with its strummy synthwork, monster 80s drums, and bittersweet vocal snips.

Good For You bites a few classic funk jams to great effect, flipping it with a conga-driven drumloop and an intelligent arrangement that allows for a quickmix or long-play mid-set-piss style.

My personal favourite, Hot Stuff, is not theived from Raydio. Instead, its a totally tense, never-quite-resolving disco churner with a spitfire horn riff that tears through the mix like many of my favourite instrumental mixes from the great original disco mixers (Shep Pettibone, Tom Moulton). This would have been front-crate material in the garage days.

Discotheque puts the claps up front, and the riffs snake around them in a twangy, funky way. The progression is reminiscent of the long-play Greg Wilson format, and takes a series of awesome synth-tom fills from another big jam.

Finally, What They Want, aptly-named, is the most straight-up edit on the EP, taking the best bit and stretching it out. Hiphop tempo, disco-funk in nature, this should be a no-brainer for anyone trying to set the night off. Massive drums in this one too!

New Homebreakin Records release! I rinsed this one all summer and it's far from diluted. All the remixes are useful.

Neighbour returns with this long awaited Homebreakin release featuring Vancouver's inimitable DJ Spiltmilk. "Get With This" is an oldskool hiphop influenced party starter featuring heavyweight analog bass, a sliced-and-diced booty vocal, 80s-style keyboarding, and crushing funk drums.

Australia's rising star Opiuo delivers perhaps his finest remix work to date, twisting the classic original into an ultra-modern vision of technical glitch-rock bliss. It has already become a bonafide festival classic across the West Coast, including spins at Shambhala 2010, Bass Coast Project, and California's The Big Bounce.

Next up is Audited Beats (East Records, Punchout, and Goodgroove) delivering a superb slice of boogie-house. Stomping drums, a clever flip of the synth bass, and swirling phased percussion push this mix into prime-time territory.

Finally, Mr. Sofalumpkins, the enigmatic alter-ego of award-winning drum and bass producer T-Power (of Shy FX famewith a ridiculously bouncy, infectious, and irresistible bassline mix.

Myself and Jon Reynolds teamed up under the name Rusty Nail to bring you a deep, driving, late night tech house bouncer. @computer_paul uses heavy percussion, raregroove soul, disco, and funk samples surrounded by new school drum programming blur the lines between classic house and updated disco edit territory. Cuts features a more disco-laden percussion sound, mixing raw samples and harder beats with a west coast smoked out vibe, while Steal Some Days is more of a straight up houser. Be sure to check the Woodhead treatment for an updated electro disco vibe.
